When you go woke, you go broke… This is exactly what happens to a radical left-wing CEO who is now facing tremendous backlash.
Penzey’s Spices, the Milwaukee-based company that held “Republicans are Racist” sale over Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend earlier this month, is now dealing with a massive loss of customers and begging for new business.
The campaign wound up backfiring on the retailer of spices and costing the company thousands of customers.
“Penzey’s Spices has apparently lost a ton of business after calling all Republicans racist,” reported News/Talk 1130 WISN host Dan O’Donnell
In the letter, Penzey explained that he wanted to upset Republicans to honor Dr. King, the civil rights icon.
“Remember how Republicans, going against a mountain of evidence to the contrary, once again lied and said BLM wasn’t a peaceful movement but instead terrorists inciting violence throughout the country and then raced out to buy a crapload of guns because maybe they were finally going to get their chance to shoot a Black person? What a bunch of racists,” the email said.
The CEO went on in the email to say the Republican Party “does everything it can to make it harder for Black people to vote.”
According to Penzeys Spices, they called Republicans racist in their ‘Voice of Cooking’ email list. The company said their action started a ‘Boycott Penzeys’ motion.
In a Facebook post, they say the statement cost the company 40,005 customers to unsubscribe from their Voice of Cooking email list. The 40,005 unsubscribes reportedly translated to about 3% of the list.
However, it was also mentioned that 30,000 new customers have signed up, but they are still down to 10,000.
In an attempt to replace some of the customers they lost, Penzeys is offering a sale of two $25 gift cards for $35.
That same Facebook post talks about the ‘Republican vaccine lies’ that are ‘needless killing 10,000 Americans every week.
According to Penzeys website, there are multiple stores located in Wisconsin, including one in Appleton. Their headquarters are in Wauwatosa, which is about an hour south of Fond du Lac.
In his second email, Penzy claimed that he expected to get the response he did but still asked for help making up the loss of profits.
“After starting the year with All Republicans are Republicans and following up with Republicans are Racists we’ve set a nice little Boycott Penzeys! surge in motion,” Penzey wrote. “It certainly wasn’t unexpected, but if it’s within your means, you picking up a small stack of Gift Cards would help.”
“Please help,” the CEO wrote.
“If you can’t even begin to fathom how to ‘compromise’ with January 6th, or the Republican vaccine lies needlessly killing 10,000 Americans every week, if you have no desire to become half-way racist, and if their intent to destroy our climate for one thousand years to come doesn’t have you asking: ‘What if we just destroyed it for five-hundred years instead?’ we would be better off with you on this Voice Of Cooking email list,” he wrote.
