Police have so far faced significant backlash and public outrage for their response to the shooting. And the latest addition to their headache is the revelation of a hero Uvalde’s mother who ran into the school to rescue her two sons while the Police were just standing and doing nothing.
But this hero mom was threatened by the police to hit her with a probation violation if she spoke to the media about what happened that day.
Angeli Gomez, the Uvalde mom who ran into Robb Elementary School during a shooting to rescue her two sons, told CBS Thursday she was handcuffed and threatened by police officers for talking to the media.
Gomez told the outlet that she arrived at the school while the shooting was still taking place and found that several armed officers were standing by outside. She said she begged and screamed for officers to go into the building to save her children, but the police seemed more concerned with containing parents than entering the school.
One U.S. Marshal allegedly handcuffed Gomez, and told her that she would be arrested for being “uncooperative” at the scene. Gomez claims that law enforcement threatened her with a probation violation for obstruction of justice if she spoke to the media, based on a charge against her from a decade ago.
Here’s what Gomez said of the cops who held her back during an interview with CBS:
“Nothing was being done. If anything, they were being more aggressive against us parents who were willing to go in.”

Gomez added:
“I told one of the officers, I don’t need you to protect me. Get away from me. I don’t need your protection. If anything, I need you to go in there with me and protect my kids.”
Gomez said she was eventually un-cuffed and able to circumvent the police by climbing a fence and running inside the school. She quickly grabbed her two sons from their classrooms, and said that gunshots could be heard ringing throughout the building.
Gomez told CBS:
“He said, ‘Well, we’re going to have to arrest you because you’re being very uncooperative. I said, well you’re going to have to arrest me because I’m going in there.”
“I’m telling you, I don’t see any of y’all in there. Y’all are standing with snipers and far away. If y’all aren’t going in their, I’m going in there,” she said, describing what she told the officers.
