Americans are proud people. A country founded on core values of patriotism and freedom, and no celebrity with a platform can try to take that away. It is simply astonishing and terrifying at the same time that certain people have the power and audacity to speak out so loudly on something such as the American Flag.
Those same celebrities who want to speak out on abandoning the US Flag because it doesn’t align with their values are the same people who gained their status in this country from the freedoms and opportunities the country allows. In simplest terms, they want to use and abuse the country for what it has allowed them to have, and then bash it for their own selfish values.
The celebrity in particular is Macy Gray, who finds the flag “tattered, dated, divisive and incorrect.” Hear more from the DailyWire including Republicans rightfully defending their flag and patriotism.
Gray has said that the flag has an implied symbol of racism.
“It no longer represents ALL of us,” Gray wrote. “It’s not fair to be forced to honor it. It’s time for a new flag.”
And Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) tweeted: “There are 195 countries in the world. 194 of them don’t have the American flag. If @macygray or anyone else hates the American flag so badly, they should pick a flag they like & go live in the country that flies it!”
South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem led a slew of critics blasting singer Macy Gray for urging the U.S. to get rid of the current flag:
A new flag?! No thanks. Old Glory still waves as a symbol of liberty and justice for all,” Noem wrote on Twitter.
Others joined in. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) tweeted: “If you don’t like the American flag, feel free to leave.”
It’s safe to say, Americans want to keep the flag, and if you don’t like it, you can leave.
