Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO), a highly influential figure in the House Ways and Means Committee, has announced his intention to refer Hunter Biden for criminal prosecution due to alleged perjury before Congress.

In a recent development, Chairman Smith has accused Hunter Biden of providing false testimony during his private deposition before Congress in February.

These accusations are supported by new evidence from a whistleblower, which contradicts Hunter Biden’s statements to Congress.

According to Chairman Smith, the evidence indicates that Hunter Biden repeatedly lied about his family’s involvement in an international influence-peddling scheme.

“Hunter Biden has shown once again he believes there are two systems of justice in this country – one for his family, and one for everyone else. Not only did Hunter Biden refuse to comply with his initial subpoena until threatened with criminal contempt, but he then came before Congress and lied,” House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith told Fox News. “The Ways and Means Committee’s investigation, and the documents released today, are not part of a personal vendetta against Hunter Biden, but are meant to ensure the equal application of the law.”

Chairman Smith alleged that Hunter Biden had been untruthful regarding his coercive message to his Chinese business associate Zhao.

Despite Hunter’s assertion that he had messaged the wrong Zhao due to being “high or drunk,” evidence indicates that the two had been in communication for several months.

“First, Hunter Biden lied about the recipient of a WhatsApp message sent with the apparent intention to threaten a business associate and demand payment. In the message, Hunter Biden twice mentioned he was with his father. In the deposition, Hunter Biden sought to dismiss the message, claiming that he was either quote ‘high or drunk’ when he sent it, and in that state, had sent it to the wrong Zhao, and not actually the one affiliated with the Chinese energy company, CEFC. Hunter claimed under oath that the recipient, quote ‘had no understanding or even remotely knew what,…I was even‚…talking about’,” Chairman Smith said in his opening statement, according to Just The News.

In a statement to The Gateway Pundit last month Chairman Jason Smith said Hunter Biden lying in his sworn testimony to Congress is a “felony offense.”

“Hunter Biden has shown once again he believes there are two systems of justice in this country – one for his family, and one for everyone else. Not only did Hunter Biden refuse to comply with his initial subpoena until threatened with criminal contempt, but he then came before Congress and lied. The Ways and Means Committee’s investigation, and the documents released today, are not part of a personal vendetta against Hunter Biden, but are meant to ensure the equal application of the law,” House Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith said in a statement to The Gateway Pundit.

“Lying during sworn testimony is a felony offense that the Department of Justice has prosecuted numerous individuals for in recent years, and the American people expect the same accountability for the son of the President of the United States. Hunter Biden’s lies under oath, and obstruction of a congressional investigation into his family’s potential corruption, calls into question other pieces of his testimony. The newly released evidence affirms, once again, the only witnesses who can be trusted to tell the truth in this investigation are the IRS whistleblowers,” Chairman Smith added.
