Last year, it was revealed that President Joe Biden had been using secret aliases and pseudonyms to send and receive emails during his time as vice president.

This may have violated strict federal regulations regarding the use of private email addresses by government employees.

Recently released Biden emails, dating mostly from 2012, disclosed that he had received “sensitive” but not classified information from his aides through fictitious Gmail accounts.

These emails were made public over the holiday weekend by the National Archives in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the Southeastern Legal Foundation.

This revelation has sparked wider efforts to uncover President Biden’s past secretive email practices.

Just the News reported that although none of the recently released documents were marked as classified, several contained sensitive information that was transmitted and received over unsecured private email servers.

This information would be highly valuable and useful if intercepted by “foreign powers and hostile spy agencies.”

The documents included details about federal emergency responses and preparedness, potential divisions within the Obama administration, and U.S. intelligence on the activities and internal workings of certain foreign nations and peoples.

The news outlet noted that neither President Biden nor his White House has provided any explanation or justification for why the then-vice president used various fake names to send and receive emails on a private server.

In August 2023, the Southeastern Legal Foundation made public its filing of a FOIA lawsuit against the National Archives.

This action was prompted by the federal agency’s delay in responding to initial document requests, which encompassed then-Vice President Biden’s utilization of various aliases and pseudonyms.

The original request was submitted in 2021, and despite the National Archives acknowledging its possession of over 5,000 potentially relevant documents, it declined to release them.

SLF’s General Counsel Kimberly Hermann said at the time, “All too often, public officials abuse their power by using it for their personal or political benefit. When they do, many seek to hide it. The only way to preserve governmental integrity is for NARA to release Biden’s nearly 5,400 emails to SLF and thus the public. The American public deserves to know what is in them.”

The SLF was not the only group requesting access to the contents of then-Vice President Biden’s purported email accounts.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) also made a press release in August 2023, revealing a letter he sent to the National Archives.

In that letter, he demanded the unredacted release of all communications and documents containing one of Biden’s pseudonyms, especially those related to his family members and their business activities.

“Joe Biden has stated there was ‘an absolute wall’ between his family’s foreign business schemes and his duties as Vice President, but evidence reveals that access was wide open for his family’s influence peddling,” Comer said at the time. “We already have evidence of then-Vice President Biden speaking, dining, and having coffee with his son’s foreign business associates. We also know that Hunter Biden and his associates were informed of then-Vice President Biden’s official government duties in countries where they had a financial interest. The National Archives must provide these unredacted records to further our investigation into the Biden family’s corruption.”

In December 2023, a Fox News report revealed that the National Archives finally addressed Comer’s requests due to pressure from IRS whistleblowers who disclosed information to the House Ways and Means Committee about the findings of the federal investigation into Hunter Biden’s questionable foreign business activities.

The evidence provided by the whistleblowers demonstrated that then-Vice President Biden frequently utilized alias email accounts to communicate with his son and his son’s associates.

Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch also got in on the act with a FOIA lawsuit of its own, and reported in January that it had obtained hundreds of emails from the National Archives that confirmed Biden’s usage of fake names to hide his familial communications.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said at the time, “Joe Biden’s alias emails show Joe Biden and his family had a close working relationship on government matters,” and added, “No wonder the Biden administration had been hiding these emails from Congress and the American people.”
