Trump’s Verdict Sets Off 1 Shocking Storm

Trump’s Verdict Sets Off 1 Shocking Storm – Not Even Trump Thought This Would Happen

Democrats are celebrating the guilty verdict against Donald Trump. Joe Biden is already campaigning on it, raising money for his crumbling reelection bid. It should come as no surprise that Republican Trump supporters are outraged. And this verdict might end up getting more voters to rally behind him as a result.

But how will establishment Republicans react? These are “moderate” Republicans who have spent decades in the D.C. swamp. Some of them have opposed Trump in the past. Perhaps they will use this result to pile on the Republican candidate.

That does not seem to be the case.

From Breitbart:
Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), a moderate who has split with former President Donald Trump in the past, joined the ranks of his supporters Wednesday after the jury in the Manhattan business records trial returned a guilty verdict…

“The district attorney, who campaigned on a promise to prosecute Donald Trump, brought these charges precisely because of who the defendant was rather than because of any specified criminal conduct. The political underpinnings of this case further blur the lines between the judicial system and the electoral system, and this verdict likely will be the subject of a protracted appeals process.”

Moderate Republican Sen. Susan Collins blasted the guilty verdict against Trump. She said the American system of justice is supposed to prosecute cases because of “alleged criminal conduct” regardless of who the defendant is. Yet in this case “the opposite has happened.”

She accused DA Bragg of promising to prosecute Trump regardless of the facts. And she said he brought these charges because of Trump’s political affiliations. Collins also predicted this sham case will result in a “protracted appeals process.”

But she isn’t the only moderate firing back. A man often called “RINO” by Trump and his supporters has issued a statement. And it is possible even Trump was shocked by it.

From Breitbart:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) — who is no fan of former President Donald Trump — criticized the guilty verdict returned Thursday in the business records trial.

“These charges never should have been brought in the first place. I expect the conviction to be overturned on appeal,” he posted on X…

McConnell’s post dashed the hopes of Never Trumpers who had hoped that Republicans would turn on Trump once he was a “convicted felon.”

While not being a friend of Trump’s, Mitch McConnell criticized the New York trial, saying it should not have been brought “in the first place.” And he predicted the conviction would be overturned on appeal.

Many have claimed the verdict would be thrown out through the appeals process. Others claim it will reach the Supreme Court, which will throw it out over constitutional concerns. But for moderate Republicans to take a stand like this, shows just how sickened Americans are over this case.

At least, Americans who believe in law and order.

Key Takeaways:

  • Moderate Republicans spoke out against the guilty verdict against Trump.
  • Susan Collins blasted the trial and called it politically motivated.
  • Mitch McConnell predicted the conviction will be overturned in appeals.
