CNN Pollster Shocked Over Poll Revealing Americans Trust GOP Over Dems With Economy

It’s funny, isn’t it? The people in the fancy studios—the ones with perfect lighting and Ivy League résumés—always seem a little baffled by how things work in the real world. They talk about “hardworking Americans” like it’s some exotic species they read about in a college sociology class. And when those Americans start voting in ways that don’t fit the coastal narrative? Well, the “experts” just can’t handle it.

Enter CNN’s Harry Enten, who recently had a minor meltdown on live television after reviewing his own network’s polling data. Apparently, reality finally punched its way through the CNN bubble—and Mr. Enten was “flabbergasted.”

Why? Because the Democrats’ decades-long claim to be the party of the middle class has just gone up in smoke.

Back in 1989, Democrats held a commanding 23-point lead when Americans were asked which party best represented middle-class voters. That number dipped to 17 points by 2016, and by 2022 it was down to a 4-point edge. Now? It’s just 2 points—well within the margin of error and essentially a tie.

Worse (for the left), the erosion doesn’t stop there. In the latest CNN/SSRS poll from May 2025, Republicans now hold a 7-point lead on which party aligns more closely with voters’ economic views. Meanwhile, a Reuters/Ipsos poll shows the GOP has opened up a stunning 12-point lead on which party has the “better economic plan.”

Even Enten admitted it live on CNN: “Democrats have traditionally been the party of the middle class. NO MORE! Donald Trump and the Republican Party have taken that mantle away… Adios, amigos!”

Not exactly the message the Democratic National Committee wants echoed on national television, but there it is.

This isn’t some fluke or polling anomaly. This is a direct result of what American families experienced during the Biden years. We all remember the pain: gas prices that doubled, groceries that felt more like luxury items, and a White House that insisted everything was fine. The message from the Beltway was simple—don’t believe your bank account, believe us.

But Main Street never bought that message, and now the numbers show just how fed up people really are. It’s not about party slogans or feel-good soundbites. It’s about policies that work—and the Trump-era GOP is finally being recognized for that.

You’d think this would be a wake-up call, but no. Democrats and their media echo chamber are still scratching their heads. They can’t understand why Americans wouldn’t want more “Bidenomics,” more top-down mandates, and more federal spending sprees labeled as “investments.” So they default to gaslighting—pointing to cherry-picked numbers that supposedly show Trump “underwater” on economic approval.

But voters aren’t buying the spin. They’re looking at who had the economy humming, who brought back jobs, who stood up for American workers—and who handed them inflation, shortages, and uncertainty.

This isn’t just a blip. It’s a realignment. And the “experts” may stay flabbergasted for a while.
