Google attributed the ability of the Harris Campaign to modify news headlines to a ‘glitch.’

The campaign used Google search ads to manipulate headlines from major news outlets such as Reuters, CBS News, CNN, NPR, and AP, making it seem as though they were in support of Harris.

However, these outlets were not aware of the ads or the altered headlines. Despite this, the Harris Campaign published the modified headlines without permission from these news organizations.

Although the ads indicated that they were “sponsored,” the content was not approved or generated by the respective outlets.

CNN, NPR, and other media sources confirmed that they had no knowledge of these ads.

“According to Google’s ad transparency center, the Trump campaign isn’t running these types of ads, but this technique has been used by campaigns before.” Axios reported.

The advertisements state that they are sponsored, but it may not be immediately apparent that the accompanying text for real news links is actually written by the campaigns and not by the media publication.

“Google says a ‘glitch’ occurred which allowed the Harris campaign to run paid ads with fake headlines to deceive voters.” the outlet reported.

Only Kamala Harris, not the Trump campaign, ran these Google ads.

“Google says there was a glitch in the system which meant some of the barriers they try to put in to make it clear what this is weren’t working,” Fox News reported.

The so-called ‘glitch’ worked out to Kamala Harris’s advantage.
