The video shows a porch pirate in Ontario rushing to steal from a homeowner’s porch and then fleeing to his car parked in the victim’s driveway. But his car gets stuck in a snowbank almost immediately.
Before the thief gets stuck, the homeowner confronts him and shouts, “That’s dumb, you’re dumb!” The porch pirate panics and fails to notice the large hunk of snow near the driveway. The thief tries to back away and runs right into the snowbank, getting his car stuck.
Peel Police Officers show up to arrest the porch pirate. The thief is identified as a 33-year-old Brampton man who faces charges of fraud and theft.
Viewers who have been robbed by porch pirates find solace in the man’s instant karma. Hundreds of viewers have shared comments on YouTube, with many finding the video amusing.
“This feels Canadian on so many levels. The thief is wearing a mask to slow the spread of the pandemic. The victim is offering advice and lending him a shovel.”
“This might be the video of the year already. This video catches the guy in the act, shows him making a ridiculous blunder, has him periodically begging, has the homeowner giving hilarious advice to him, and then we even get to see justice served at the end. This is a very rare video.”
This video is a reminder that porch piracy is not a victimless crime. It’s important to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. If you do become a victim, there is always hope that karma will catch up with the thief.
