He Lived In The Mountains For Eighty Two Years Without Ever Seeing A Woman, His Story Is Beyond All…

One man’s unwavering commitment to his faith led him to live out his entire life without ever encountering a woman or experiencing the modern world.

Mihailo Tolotos, a man who had never encountered a woman in his entire life, passed away at the age of eighty-two, leaving behind a legacy of isolation and adherence to strict religious principles. Born in 1856, Tolotos was orphaned at a young age when his mother died shortly after giving birth, ensuring he never even had the chance to know her.

Raised by Orthodox Monks at a monastery on Mount Athos in Greece, young Tolotos found himself surrounded exclusively by men, as the monastery’s rules forbade women from entering its grounds.

For centuries, the monks at Mount Athos have lived by these stringent guidelines, dating back to a 10th-century Greek law that prohibits not only women but also female domestic animals from setting foot on the mountain, all in the name of preserving the monks’ celibacy.

Despite the possibility of leaving the monastery to explore the world and potentially meet women, Tolotos chose to remain within the confines of his religious sanctuary for his entire life. As a result, he never met a woman or experienced anything outside the walls of Mount Athos during his 82 years.

Tolotos passed away in 1938, having spent his life in the seclusion of the monastery, never giving in to the temptation to venture beyond its boundaries. His unique circumstance of having never encountered a woman earned him a special burial, in line with the traditional rites of the monks at Mount Athos, but with the added distinction of being the only man known to have lived and died without ever experiencing the presence of a woman.

The extraordinary life of Tolotos was not just limited to his lack of interaction with women. He also missed out on many modern advancements, having never seen a car, an airplane, or even a movie. At the time of his death, a newspaper article marveled at his dedication to his faith, as well as his ability to maintain isolation from the outside world, avoiding both women and the conveniences of modern life like transportation and entertainment.
