He Took An 88yr Old Woman’s Seat On A Plane And Refused To Let Her Sit Down, His Explanation Was….

In many ways, traveling can get more difficult as you get older but following a good deed by a passenger on a seven-hour flight from New York to London, Virgin Atlantic is spreading the holiday spirit by upgrading the seats of senior citizens!

29-year-old Jack Littlejohn was on his way back to London after taking part in the Worlds Big Sleep Out a charity event to help raise awareness about the thousands of people who are homeless.

Littlejohn who was originally from Stirling, Scotland, and had traveled extensively throughout the British Isles, when he noticed Violet Allison‘s particular precarious position, the 88-year-old was a passenger in Virgin Atlantic’s economy class section.

Without thinking twice, Jack approached Violet and struck up a conversation with her, finding out that she was a former nurse who had just visited her daughter and was now traveling alone back to London’s Heathrow Airport.

The young man then proposed an offer that left the elderly passenger speechless; Jack was inspired by her story and wanted to give her the kindness she deserves.

According to the Huffington Post, Jack informed Violet that he was taking a first-class flight with his family but that he wanted to switch seats with her. The luxuries that come with an upper-class ticket, including a leather recliner and bed, gourmet food, and all the free drinks she desires, would be hers if she agreed.

“Before the flight was about to take off, I went for a jaunt through Economy, I was searching for someone cool to give it to – and then I saw Violet, an elderly Jamaican woman, who you could just tell was really sweet.” He then told her, “I’d like to give you my seat,” Jack recalls.

Violet couldn’t believe what she was hearing at first but she reluctantly shuffled to the front of the plane with the assistance of a flight attendant after the elderly woman’s seatmate urged her to accept Jack’s offer.

“There was a girl beside her who nudged her and said, ‘it’s very nice up there, I think you should take it, so she said, ‘ok I’ll do it.’ We gathered up her bags, told the hostess and then jaunted back down the plane to the seat,” Jack recalled.

Leah Barry, a flight attendant who had the pleasure of serving Violet during the flight, revealed the good deed. The story of Jack giving up his seat caught the attention of Barry, she was compelled to share it on social media to share the heartwarming story she witnessed on a flight.

In a post, Barry wrote:

“Of the hundreds of flights I’ve operated, I’ve had the pleasure of looking after footballers, supermodels and some Hollywood movie stars but let me tell you about my two favourite passengers EVER!

Jack and Violet  (I wish she was called Vera or Rose )

Jack and his family purchased seats in our upper class cabin for a flight home from New York, but when he got onboard, Jack went and found violet in economy and swapped seats with her.

He then sat on the row of seats directly next to the economy toilets and never made a peep or asked for anything the rest of the flight. No fuss, no attention, literally did it out of the kindness of his own heart, no one asked him too.

Violet is 88 years old, has been a nurse in both the UK and over in America. She travels to New York to see her daughter, but hasn’t been able to for a while because of a knee replacement. Her dream has always been to sit at the front, and Jack made that come true.

You should of seen her face, when I tucked her in her bed after supper

She said her daughter won’t believe her, and wanted a ‘selfie’ to prove it, but didn’t have a phone or an email address. These photos are getting sent in the post tomorrow, can you even cope”

It was worth it to make Violet’s dream come true, Jack said explaining that he enjoys giving to people who cannot possibly repay him. As for his economy seating, he had no complaint about the downgrade.

“It was fine to be honest, I was very tired. It was a normal flight, I slept for most of it,” he said.

And following the viral post, Virgin Atlantic has revealed that they’ll be spreading the holiday cheer by upgrading the oldest passenger onboard every flight over the festive season to the highest cabin available.

This is being done in honor of Jack, who gave up his Upper-Class seat to 88-year-old Violet on a flight from New York to London.
