Jim Jordan Drops a Political Bombshell – He Just Moved to Cripple Trump’s Legal Foes
Americans were shocked when a New York jury convicted Donald Trump. The case was brought by Democrat prosecutors who vowed long before to defeat Trump. Many critics tore the charges and trial to shreds, pointing out many problems with the entire process.
It seems the verdict has backfired on Democrats, as Trump continues to see his popularity rise. But Democrats are pushing three more criminal trials against Trump.
You’d have to be a hardened Democrat to not think these are politically motivated. And one top Republican lawmaker is seeking to make this kind of political persecution a thing of the past. He just proposed a move that could shut down Democrats for good.
From The Daily Wire:
On Monday, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) submitted a plan to defund the prosecutors who are taking on Donald Trump in court battles that the former president — who is seeking re-election — and his allies claim are politically motivated. The proposals, which appear in Jordan’s latest budget request to House Appropriations Chairman Tom Cole (R-OK) for the fiscal year 2025, do not mention particular cases or any prosecutors by name, but they do describe situations that match the criminal matters involving Trump on the state and federal levels. The Judiciary Committee GOP confirmed on X that Trump prosecutors are the focus.
House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan proposed a plan to defund the Democrat prosecutors (both state and federal) who are going after Trump for political reasons. The actual request doesn’t specifically name those prosecutors (which includes Georgia’s Fani Willis, New York’s Alvin Bragg and Letitia James, and the DOJ’s Jack Smith), but the description would affect their cases against Trump.
A statement by the House Judiciary GOP confirmed Jordan’s proposal is focusing on these Democrat-led prosecutions. Should prosecutors bring frivolous cases against obvious political opponents, this measure would strip away their federal funding.
That would be a huge blow to district attorneys. They rely on large budgets that are provided by the government to do their work. If that money is taken away, their entire offices would shut down. They would not only fail to prosecute their enemies but every other crime in their district.
It is unlikely that this measure will pass in this Congress. But it is a sign that Republican lawmakers are not taking this “lawfare” lying down. They will probably continue to explore other measures to end Democrats’ attempts at stealing democracy through the courts.
Key Takeaways:
- Jim Jordan proposed a measure to defund Trump’s prosecutors.
- The move focuses on Democrats using the legal system to oppose Trump’s candidacy.
- Democrats have launched many trials to derail Trump’s campaign and tarnish his reputation.
