House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is a prime example of the devastating effects of crippling mental illness. How crippling is it exactly? Well, as the riot-turned-protest at the Capitol on January 6 unfolded, Pelosi not only threatened to assault Donald Trump if he showed up at the Capitol, but she also said she would happily go to jail for doing so.
A recently released video from Jan. 6 shows a furious Pelosi threatening to “punch him out” if Trump showed up on Capitol Hill, as he promised the enraged crowd during his remarks outside the White House prior to the assault on the Capitol.
In the footage evidently filmed by Pelosi’s daughter Alexandra Pelosi, who was producing an HBO documentary on the day’s events, the Democrat House Speaker is seen frantically scrambling as Trump protesters breached the Capitol.
The video is interspersed with clips of Trump’s defiant remarks about ceding the 2020 election. Pelosi also threatened to physically harm Trump, saying, “I’m going to jail and I’m going to be happy.”
The Secret Service ultimately decided against Trump’s trip to the Capitol because they couldn’t ensure his safety as the situation worsened and turned tense.
According to New York Post:
The clip opens with Pelosi (D-Calif.) in her office watching the one-term president delivering an incendiary speech during his “Stop the Steal” rally, in which he vowed to never concede the election and urged his supporters to “walk down to the Capitol.”
Pelosi remarks that “it’s very dangerous what he’s doing,” then jokingly tells her aides to relay to Trump “if he comes here, we’re going to the White House,” which draws laughter.
The speaker then looks out the window onto the Mall and remarks on the large crowd of Trump’s followers: “They’re marching up.”
Terry McCullough, Pelosi’s chief of staff, then informs her that the Secret Service had discouraged Trump from visiting Capitol Hill because they lack the means to protect him. Pelosi replies, “That could change,” sounding almost disappointed. Then she said that “If he comes, I’m gonna punch him out. I’ve been waiting for this, for trespassing on the Capitol grounds. I’m gonna punch him out, and I’m gonna go to jail and I’m gonna be happy.”
