Minnesota voters are casting primary ballots Tuesday in races that could help define the Democratic Party’s ideological direction and test the strength of Republican candidates backed by President Trump.
The open U.S. Senate contest has drawn national attention because Minnesota has remained Democratic in recent federal elections, but by narrower margins. Republicans see the seat as a possible pickup opportunity if the Democratic primary produces a divided coalition.
All eight of the state’s U.S. House seats and numerous state offices are also involved, making the results an important early signal for November’s midterm campaign.
