RINOs Secure Victory as House Approves FISA 702 Renewal with Strong Majority

On Monday, the House of Representatives passed a Motion to Table the Motion to Reconsider H.B. 7888, which had been approved on Friday to renew FISA 702 and permit warrantless surveillance of innocent Americans.
This decision was seen as a betrayal of the American people.
It is important to note that official intelligence documents have revealed that the FBI misused FISA 278,000 times for spying on Americans, including political adversaries such as President Trump, Trump supporters, and families affected by the events of January 6th.
Despite this knowledge, Republicans in Congress opted to disregard the interests of the American public and allow unjustified intrusion into our private communications.
By granting the Biden administration and FBI increased powers for surveillance over Trump and innocent citizens, they repeated past actions leading up to the 2024 election.
The final vote on Section 702 of the Foreign Surveillance Act was 273-147 on Friday, with 126 Republicans supporting this breach of trust against Americans.
On Monday, a motion to reconsider was put to vote at the request of Rep. Laurel Lee (R-FL) and demanded by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna through a recorded vote.
In a recent vote, 117 Republicans sided with 142 Democrats to support a Motion to Table the Motion to Reconsider, as proposed by House Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner (R-OH).
The bill will now move on to the Senate, which is controlled by Democrats and where it is expected to pass before being signed into law by President Joe Biden.
Earlier this year, Mike Turner faced criticism for opposing FISA reform aimed at ending warrantless surveillance of innocent Americans.
He raised concerns about a foreign military threat in a letter to colleagues, prompting calls for an inquiry and potential removal from the House Intelligence Committee by Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), who accused Turner of fear-mongering for political gain.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) expressed disappointment following the vote and called on all members of Congress to prioritize civil liberties, uphold the U.S. Constitution, and amend the current legislation to ensure its constitutionality.
“I urge all Members of Congress to vote NO on the motion to table the motion to reconsider,” states the letter. “I am specifically asking the 56 Members of Congress who voted for final passage of H.R. 7888, the Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act, after supporting and voting for Biggs Amendment #1 to vote NO on the motion to table.”
