A Chicago server end up jobless after leaving a hand-scrawled few words of advice on a police detective’s receipt for a pizza he had ordered. The unsolicited “tip” told the officer “Quit your job!”
The incident happened at a Happy Camper eatery on Aug. 30 in the Wrigleyville neighborhood of Chicago, where the former employee worked.
The Chicago Police officer was in full uniform when he went into the restaurant and ordered $65.89 worth of food from the store. When he received his bill he noticed the anti-cop message scrawled in pen across the top.
The officer promptly threw the food away after seeing the note, fearing that his food had been spit in or worse.
A friend of the Police officer post the incident on Facebook and immediately went viral:
“A very dear friend of mine, placed a to go order at Happy Camper in Wrigley today. He is a Chicago Police Detective, and has to be in full uniform and riot ready at any time. 12-16 hr days 6-7 days a week.
“When picking up, he noticed this note left by the cashier [quit your job]. He still tipped, and was the gentleman that he always has been. He then walked outside, and threw his food in the garbage for fear someone spit in it.
“This is unacceptable. Everyone is entitled to their feelings and political views, but definitely not when it comes to a professional environment. Where did people learn to disrespect the people that are paying their bills? How can any business allow this to happen?
“I was always taught to leave any opinions or personal issues at the door when I walked in [to work], clearly there is a lack of management and professionalism in this establishment.”
