In the eight years Barack Obama was in office, she made some fashion missteps. There have been lots of times when Michelle’s clothes had critics shaking their heads and calling the fashion police to issue citations.

Michelle Obama may as well be known for her wardrobe choice that has kicked up major drama in the fashion world, especially, when she wore a sweater when she met with Queen Elizabeth II in 2009.

There’s also been a big fuss when Obama wore shorts in the iconic descending-from-Air-Force-One-onto-the-tarmac, several commentators pointed out that she just didn’t look particularly good in shorts.

Michelle also drew heat when she went for a casual look while volunteering at a food bank in Washington, D.C. in May 2009. When the former president’s wife wore a toned-down ensemble, she sported a cardigan over a white tee, stone-colored Capri pants, and a pair of Lanvin sneakers that started a buzz as people aired their opinions about Obama’s sneakers.

Now, critics are again scratching their heads, talking about the appropriateness of her outfit, when the 53-year-old former First lady walks in her white bikini at Miami Beach.

According to Daily Mail, Michelle and her daughter Malia were seen leaving the beach before going to a hip Miami steakhouse for dinner. They were also joined by a few friends, Valerie Jarrett, a former senior advisor in the Obama administration, and the usual Secret Service agents.

Dressed all in white at the beach, with ripped-denim cut-off shorts, a white blouse, a black bandana, sunglasses, and hoop earrings, holding her shoes in one hand, as she walked through the sand barefooted.

However, some social media spectators were critical of her beach get-up, saying it was in “poor taste.”

“Totally inappropriate for her age and who she is,” wrote one commenter. “Her daughter looks embarrassed. Rightly so!”

“Why holes on the white cut offs? Looks a little trailer trash. Melania looks so much more elegant, yet all she seems to get is criticism,” claimed another.

“The ripped white shorts! Hard to believe she was ever a first lady,” wrote another user. “Getting too much inspiration from Beyonce, I think.”

“Two things…I’m shocked that people are up in arms because of the hue of her attire and she couldn’t even be bothered to button her shorts,” observed another.

“The whole family has no class,” another user wrote. “Thank God they no longer represent us!”

While other onlookers were quick to defend Obama’s beach style:

“Former first lady on holiday. So what?” wrote one user. “She was in the public eye for long enough. Now leave her alone.”

“Not a fan but always liked her style. She does look great. So do her kids,” wrote another. “Family should be left out of politics.”

“I don’t think Michelle needs our approval,” added one user. “She is a self-confident, elegant woman.”.

Other commenters took jabs at the current administration.

“To the commenters here that are along the lines of ‘And she is still headline news….why?’ I’ll tell you,” wrote one user. “People are pining for the days when they had a beautiful, intelligent, eloquent first family who had some decency.”

In contrast, Malia Obama complimented her mother’s laid-back appearance by wearing a tan crop-top hooded sweatshirt over a black swimsuit.
