The White House and the U.S. Secret Service are rallying behind a young American hero, 13-year-old Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, after learning he is now facing three new tumors in his ongoing battle with cancer.
In a heartfelt statement released Friday, the White House said, “We’re lifting up Agent DJ Daniel in prayer after his dad, Theodis, shared that DJ is now facing three new tumors.”
Calling him “one of the strongest, bravest young men,” the statement noted DJ has now been sworn into 1,351 law enforcement agencies across the country — an unprecedented outpouring of love and honor for a boy who once had just months to live.
“Agent Daniel, you’re a true legend,” the statement concluded.
The U.S. Secret Service echoed the sentiment in a separate post on Saturday, saying, “We are concerned to learn this morning that DJ Daniel is facing new challenges. We’ve never met a more courageous and inspiring young man. The entire Secret Service family stands with him as he overcomes this next chapter.”
DJ first captured the hearts of Americans earlier this year, when President Donald Trump honored him during a speech before Congress on March 4, officially appointing him an honorary Secret Service agent.
At that time, Trump explained that DJ had been diagnosed with brain cancer in 2018 and given five months to live — a prognosis DJ has long since defied.
“That was more than six years ago,” Trump said. “Since that time, DJ and his dad have been on a quest to make his dream come true.”
And come true it has — and then some. DJ has now been inducted into over 1,350 law enforcement agencies, from local sheriff’s departments to federal organizations, including the U.S. Secret Service.
On May 19, DJ was sworn in by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office in Texas, marking his 1,351st swearing-in, according to local reports.
But DJ hasn’t just been collecting badges — he’s also become a viral sensation for his unabashed support of the 45th president.
In a widely shared video following his White House visit, DJ declared: “If you’re a Democrat and you’re being mean to President Trump, I’m on your bumper!”
That blend of youthful innocence, patriotism, and unfiltered loyalty has endeared him to Americans from all walks of life — and turned him into a symbol of resilience and faith.
Before his Secret Service appointment, DJ had already endured 13 surgeries to fight cancer in his brain and spine. Yet, even with this new setback, there’s every indication he’ll continue to face the fight with the same courage that’s inspired law enforcement officers, politicians, and ordinary citizens alike.
The story of DJ Daniel isn’t just about illness or honorary titles. It’s about the strength of the human spirit, the love between a father and son, and the profound impact one determined child can have on a nation.
And now, as DJ begins this new chapter in his battle, America stands with him — praying, watching, and believing.
