An Oklahoma Liquor Store Owner Is Facing Some Serious Backlash Over A Sign In Their Store…

The words are blunt and the message is clear. A sign greeting customers at an Oklahoma City liquor store is grabbing attention.

One liquor store has had enough of bad dressers coming into the store, so they decided to do something about it and it’s causing quite an uproar.

The Oklahoma liquor store, ‘ Midwest Wine and Spirits’, was tired of people dressing like slouches, so they put up a sign that says the following…

“Pull your pants up or don’t come in!!! the sign reads. “Try to have some decency & respect for others. No one wants to see your underwear.”

Although this policy was seen as controversial and even racist by some people, the store management stands by it because they simply find the fashion statement disrespectful and disgusting.

The management said in an interview that they were compelled to put the sign up because far too many customers were coming in with their pants hanging down their behinds so that their underwear and cracks could be visible.

“I realize wearing pants low is a fashion statement for some, but it doesn’t work for me, and I find it somewhat offensive,” Chad Gilbert, one of the managers said.

But the sign wasn’t just placed in the store to get people to dress better. It addresses valid safety concerns, employees said.

“Usually, when people come in with their pants sagging, it’s easier for them to steal bottles,” said Shana Wiessner, who has no problem sending poorly dressed customers elsewhere. “We don’t need their business if they’re not going to be by the rules. We got rules around here, people.”

The photo of the sign has gone viral and has people debating the issue…

“I can see that if it was like a church,” Sunshine Weatherby (above) said. “There are families there, you might have a problem with that, but this is a liquor store. I’ve seen worse at a liquor store.”

I agree with it,” customer Chad Gilbert said. “I don’t want to see anybody else’s underwear. I realize wearing pants low is a fashion statement for some, but it doesn’t work for me and I find it somewhat offensive.”

“I’m 100% with the store owner! EVERY establishment should enforce this policy!!! Why isn’t the law of Indecent Exposure enforced?!?!?!”

“I like it. Should be a requirement for all stores and restaurants. They use to call this ‘Indecent Exposure’ when I was growing up and it used to be against the law. I wonder what ever happened to that law.”
